Coachella 2014: Fashion

It appears that the media has actually focused more on the fashion scene rather than the music scene this year. Over the weekend, my Instagram feed has been FULL of Coachella posts from celebs and bloggers and I'm so envious of it all. I need to go.

Vanessa Hudgens was looking absolutely goregous. Her hair was stunning in long, beachy waves. She's also now opted for blonde locks as well... Major hair envy!

I've also got a lot of love for outfit as well (what I can see of it), although I'm not sure about the bindis. Does anyone else have an opinion on using bindis as fashion statements?

I've got more hair envy going on from the lovely Whitney Port.

She's known for her healthy, long, blonde locks and I absolutely love this hairstyle. I might have to try it, it looks so pretty, especially for summer!

Also note all those palm trees and the ferris wheel in the background. How amazing does Coachella life look?

Los Angeles is currently at the top of my list of places I want to go. Coachella seems amazing and it would be so great to visit L.A. and attend this at the same time! That would be so, so perfect.

P.s. did anyone else see this video of (allegedly) Leonardo DiCaprio throwing some moves to MGMT? I so hope it's him. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDSpbu4CzUk

Coachella 2014: Music

If you’ve never heard of Coachella, Google it – it looks like paradise. It’s basically a celebrity-filled music and arts festival in Palm Springs, L.A. The line-up is full of massive international acts. The headliners this year included Outkast, Muse and Arcade Fire. Amongst the line-up were some other brilliant acts! They also do two weekends which I think is really good.

Coachella was held over the weekend and I’m just catching up with all the highlights and performances. A small handful of my favourite bands played including The Naked and Famous, Bombay Bicycle Club, Washed Out and MGMT.

The Naked and Famous are for sure one of my all-time favourites. I never, ever get bored with them. I’ve never seen them live which makes me really sad. They originate from New Zealand so they gig there quite a lot and also round the US. They performed some of their older material and newer material from their most recent album In Rolling Waves. They seem to be becoming more and more popular so hopefully they will tour in the UK soon (fingers crossed.)

BBC is another band that I’ve never seen live but I’d love to one day. I’ve watched so many of their sets from other festivals and they’re really amazing live. Again like, TNAF, they have a new album out. It’s called So Long, See You Tomorrow and it is incredible. (I might do a post on that soon.) They’re one of those bands that just put you in a good mood. Their music is just really nice and light and happy. It was such a perfect set for a festival like Coachella.

I remember first hearing about Washed Out whilst reading NME and I have loved them ever since. I’ve actually never really thought about watching a live set before this point so I wasn’t really sure what to make of it. They’re such an easy listen and I’d actually love to go see them, especially at a festival! Amor Fati and Eyes Be Closed are probably my favourites performances from them over the weekend.

I don’t really know to start with MGMT… does anyone? They’re so weird and make you feel kind of trippy. I love some of their songs so much but they’re definitely one of those bands that I’d rather listen to on record rather than live in my opinion. I do really love them but their songs definitely have more impact on record.

I also watched some of Empire of the Sun’s set. They kinda go hand-in-hand in MGMT. They’re like MGMT in fancy dress. I think that’s a good way of putting it. Obviously they were dressed extravagantly in ridiculous outfits. Favourite’s of mine are definitely We are the People and Walking on a Dream.

Coachella seems like a pretty perfect festival.

(Sorry for my lack of posts recently. I’ve been so busy with uni work, birthdays and catching up with friends/boyfriend but finallyyyy it’s the Easter holidays!)

Topshop!

So, I went a bit wild in Topshop the other day (it’s wild when you’re a student).

I bought the gingham print cigarette trousers, black crop top, rings and the Glow highlighter in ‘’Polish’’.

I’ve been lusting after these trousers for a while and thought that I’d just go for it and get them. Best decision! They’re such a lovely fit. I thought they looked really baggy on the hanger but I was really surprised when I tried them on – although I did have to go down a size from my usual and had to get a size 4 (shock horror!) I better stop eating a packet of biscuits a day if I’m going to be able to keep fitting in them.

They are just the loveliest and I can’t wait to wear them.

I’ve never bought any beauty products from Topshop before and I’ve been wanting something similar to this.

It was a pleasant surprise to try it for the first time and absolutely love it. It is a small pot and at first I wasn’t sure how long it would last but I’ve used it a few times now and I’ve come to find that all you need is a tiny amount!

I also use it to highlight under my eyebrows. It’s such a natural look and lasts for a good few hours too!
I was slightly hesitant to buy something I’ve never tried for £9 but I really loved the shade and glimmer – definitely worth the price in my opinion.

I’ve also had my eye on the lip bullets but I haven’t yet found the perfect shade.
Has anyone else tried them or got a favourite?
